Gloria Ladson-Billings is Professor Emerita in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction and former faculty affiliate in the Departments of Educational Policy Studies, Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis, and Afro American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is the President of the National Academy of Education, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and a Fellow of the American Educational Research Association. A holder of 8 national and international honorary degrees, she has recently been named a 2020-2021 Fellow of the Hagler Institute at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on culturally relevant pedagogy, critical race theory applications to education, and hip hop as a pedagogical tool.
