Debora Saavedra-Winch is a doctoral student in the Curriculum and Instruction program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she is focusing on Curriculum and Educational Development. She holds a Master's degree in Latin American History from UNC Charlotte, where she was actively involved in teaching and research.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Saavedra-Winch is a passionate educator with years of experience teaching Government and Economics, as well as Advanced Placement courses in Psychology and Government and Politics. She is dedicated to fostering a love of learning and civic engagement in her students, particularly among Latino students in the New South.
Saavedra-Winch's research is centered on understanding how social studies education can support the development of civic engagement among Latino students. Her work aims to bridge the gap between research and practice and to empower educators to create meaningful and inclusive learning experiences for all students.
