Dr. Chance W. Lewis (Director, The Urban Education Collaborative) has been invited to provide the keynote address for the UNC Charlotte College of Education Back-to-School Celebration. This event will take place on August 31, 2012.
Urban Education Collaborative Team Publishes article in US-China Education Review Journal
Abiola Farinde (Graduate Research Assistant) and Dr. Chance W. Lewis (Director, Urban Education Collaborative) recently published an article in the US-China Education Review journal. The title of the article is: ‘The underrepresentation of African American female students in STEM fields: Implications for Classroom Teachers (2012, Volume 2, Number 4, pp. 421-431).’

Dr. Chance W. Lewis Selected to Provide Keynote Address for UNC Charlotte Diversity Institute
Dr. Chance W. Lewis, Carolyn Grotnes Belk Distinguished Professor of Urban Education will provide the opening keynote speech for the 2012 UNC Charlotte Diversity Institute. This Diversity Institute is an on-going by the University to address on-going strategies for effectively implementing diversity and urban initiatives into course curricula.

Dr. Lewis named Chair-Elect of Research Focus on Black Education SIG at AERA
Dr. Chance W. Lewis, Carol Grotnes Belk Distinguished Professor of Urban Education and Director of The Urban Education Collaborative was recently named Chair-Elect of the Research Focus on Black Education Special Interest Group (SIG) for the American Education Research Association (AERA). His three-year term will begin in April 2012.

Dr. Stephen Hancock, Associate Professor of Multicultural Education and Assistant Director for The Urban Education Collaborative has been named Program Chair-Elect for the Research Focus on Black Education (Special Interest Group) SIG for the American Education Research Education (AERA). His term will run from 2012-2015.
