Urban Education Collaborative Doctoral Fellow selected for Prestigious AERA Workshop
Elizabeth Etters, Doctoral Fellow with The Urban Education Collaborative, has been selected to participate in the AERA Institute on Statistical Analysis for Education Policy on Mathematics Education and Equity, a component of the AERA grants program. The 2013 Instiute, held in Washington, DC, will provide hands-on training in the application of large-scale data sets, with special emphasis on using these data sets for policy-related research in mathematics education and equity. Policy-relevant topics to be analyzed include issues such as students’ opportunitites to learn specific mathematical content; access to high-quality mathematics teachers; students’ course-taking and career plans; and students’ mathematics achievement, beliefs and attitudes. Patterns related to social class, race/ethnicity, language, gender and disability will also be considered.
